No Vinci Code!

This is absolutely ridiculous. The Tamil Nadu State Government has decided to suspend the release of The da Vinci Code in the state; this despite the Central Government clearing the movie for release.

According to a press release:
The screening of the movie might hurt the religious feelings and sentiments of the Christian community and lead to demonstrations and disturb peace and tranquillity within the State...

The TN elections are just over and ruling party needn't care a shit about public sentiments for the next few years. Then why the ban and who are they trying to impress?
Is it the same Catholic lady that Punjab's CM Amrinder Singh was trying to impress when he banned the movie? Is some reshuffle in the central cabinet expected?Man, this is getting crazier than I could ever think of.

@Anu: I hear the movie isn't all that good. Maybe you are saved.

@Bishu: Yeah, nothing can explain it.

I am waiting for the day when the state goverment approves the screening of the movie, and the local councillors would then exercise their power and ban the screening in their respective wards, circle or whatever.
